At this point, 14 5/8” rebar rods need to be extended into the attic, all stirruped together. A 26 foot cardboard tube will then be lowered over the rebar form and set onto the pier base, fixed into place, and filled with about 8 tons of fiberglass reinforced cement. Anchor bolts will be set into the top of the cement pier which will attach to the pier extension base plate that will bolt to the Takahashi cast iron pier extension shown supporting the Paramount ME German equatorial telescope mount in the Instrumentation section.
