Olympus Digital Camera Firmware Upgrade
I have an Olympus C-4040Z digital camera with firmware v552u-75. Michael Cochran's excellent Camera Controller software is only partially functional with this firmware version. Desiring full functionality, I contacted Olympus technical support to see if it was possible to upgrade the firmware without sending the camera to Olympus for service. My inquiry to Olympus and their response is posted below as well as a link to a letter to include with your camera should you choose to send it to Olympus for an upgrade.

I have a C-4040Z with firmware v552u-75. I need to upgrade the firmware to at least v552u-a79 or later to get the unit to work with a camera control utility that works through the Olympus SDK interface. How do I do this without sending in the camera? Can you supply me with the instructions, the firmware and the download utility please. Please don't suggest that I send in the camera. I just need the tools so I can do it myself.

We cannot support user firmware upgrades. The
only way to update the firmware is to send it to our service department.
I have also attached a
letter to the service person explaining what you
need done to the camera. Please send it along with the camera to the
