Detail view of east side output sprocket and shaft.

The spring attached to the output sprocket has 200 pounds of pull.  It was added to assist the motor in starting the roof  lifting from its rest position when maximal force is needed.  It also serves to slow the roof as it is fully opened and minimizes any tendency of the roof to accelerate as it moves downward at the end of it's travel before coming to rest.  An identical spring is present on the west side sprocket.
